Imaging Center Brains Unlimited Maastricht
Top institute for brain research
Imaging center Brains Unlimited translates the functioning of the healthy brain into brain-related disorders. Brains Unlimited wants to further develop knowledge in the field of cognitive neuroscience, stimulate the application of acquired knowledge and encourage entrepreneurship in this area.
NeuroPartner
Cooperation between researchers and the business community ensures that new therapies and medicines can be developed. To facilitate this, a specialized incubator “NeuroPartner”, accommodation for the cognitive neuroscience department and an ultrahigh fMRI scanner facility have been realized. Here, knowledge institutions and companies can use a 7Tesla and 9.4Tesla full body MRI scanner. Within Brains Unlimited, intensive cooperation with the industry is pursued, in particular in the field of development of psychotropic drugs and MRI imaging. In addition, a training institute has been formed around neurophysics.
Brains Unlimited is the first physical expansion of the Brightlands Maastricht Health Campus where knowledge institutions and companies will ensure economic growth and worldwide scientific recognition.
The Maastricht Brain Imaging CentreĀ (M-BIC) is a research center founded by the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience of Maastricht University. It offers research facilities that were newly established within the Brains Unlimited project, including high (3 Tesla) and ultra-high (7 and 9.4 Tesla) magnetic fields MR scanners. The research core of M-BIC is formed by the Cognitive Neuroscience field, one of the four departments through which the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience conducts its research.
