GRAND HOTEL KRASNAPOLSKY
AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS
HISTORY IN THE SMALLEST DETAILS
The Krasnapolsky started out as a coffee house in the 19th century and grew into one of the most famous hotels and restaurants in Amsterdam.
In 2016, the hotel, which consists of various buildings, was completely renovated. For the hotel rooms, D / DOCK and Esteve developed two concepts “to unite the history of the hotel and the future of the city”, according to D / DOCK.
Both concepts – “Modern Classic” and “Classic Modern” work with an open bathroom. Inspiration for this was the bathroom in the room with a retractable toilet, as once introduced by A.W. Krasnapolsky. To break with traditional furnishings, the bed stands like an island in the room. In this way, the history of the hotel is reflected even in the smallest details.
